John Mannillo is one of the founding members of Saint Paul STRONG and is currently its chairperson. Founding members of Saint Paul STRONG saw a need for a non-partisan, common sense approach to political leadership that was seriously lacking in Saint Paul.
Saint Paul seemed to hit an all-time low in transparency and accountability relative to its decision making process. Saint Paul STRONG was founded on the belief that if Saint Paul residents were given more knowledge/information from the City and offered more opportunities for meaningful input into complex issues affecting them, the City would improve its process and the result would be more responsible, less divisive, more inclusive and ultimately better-quality outcomes.
John is a commercial real estate broker, developer, and consultant who specializes in the preservation of historic properties. He believes that a strong community benefits all who are part of it. He has been a leader in both professional and community organizations. Currently he also chairs the Lowertown Future Fund Foundation, Friends of Mears Park, and he coordinates a weekly speaker’s forum.
John has also led the Saint Paul Building Owners and Managers Association, the Downtown Council, the District 17 Community Council, the Historic Preservation Commission and Scenic Saint Paul. He has also run for political office.
