Mr. Mgeni has spent decades in leadership positions with community-based organizations serving low-income persons and communities of color as an administrator, community organizer, college instructor, policy analyst, educator, planner, development director, award-winning journalist/producer and foundation senior program officer.
Mr. Mgeni has a rich experience working and volunteering for dozens of human service, public policy and advocacy organizations and groups working in the areas of counter-racism, civil and human rights, social and criminal justice, health, the elimination of hunger and poverty, education and welfare reform, issues affecting immigrants and refugees, community-based research and capacity-building, technical assistance and organizational development.
Mr. Mgeni has also contributed many years of service as a member of the board of directors of numerous local and national progressive, civic and professional organizations; currently as a Vice President of the MN/Dakota Area Conference NAACP, as a mentor for at-risk youth, and as an instructor and external sponsor for prisoners' organizations in men's, women's and juvenile correctional facilities throughout Minnesota and as a member of the Steering Committee for Saint Paul STRONG, promoting transparency and openness in local government.
Mr. Mgeni joined Saint Paul STRONG to make a meaningful contribution to the public dialogue related to transparency and openness in local government entities and the public policy process.
