Saint Paul STRONG wishes to thank Council members Noecker, Prince, and Bostrom for their work last Wednesday to bring more transparency and accountability to one of the contracts the City has made for outside counsel on the soccer stadium issue.
The City Council had this item on the Consent Agenda for yesterday's meeting: 15 RES 16-187 Appointing McGrann Shea Carnival Straughn & Lamb, Chartered as special counsel, and approving the Agreement for Outside Counsel Services between the City Attorney's Office and McGrann Shea Carnival Straughn & Lamb, Chartered.
Council member Noecker asked to pull this item off the Consent Agenda due to a lack of answers to some of her questions, including where the $75,000 to pay for the McGrann Shea contract to represent the City on legal issues for the soccer stadium would come from. Council members Prince and Bostrom also raised some unanswered questions. The Council voted unanimously to table the vote until next week. Now there will be a public discussion at next week’s Council meeting.
